Why Volunteering?
One of the important benefit of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people and organizations in need. Volunteering brings benefit for you as much as the cause you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you to build up your multi-dimensional personality like making new friends, expanding your network, harnessing your skills and expertise, boosting your confidence and many more. Volunteering has the happiness effect which brings benefits to both mental and physical health. What we do?
At AkshadhaaFoundtion, it is our continuous effort to connect with different sectors of the community, like corporate houses, college students, research fellows, school students, IT professionals and every philanthropic individual who are willing to participate and bring an impact. We empower them regarding the people with disabilities, their potentials, invite them to bring more creative opportunities that can broaden the possibility of inclusion, meaningful engagement and livelihood. If we stand and talk about disability the possibility of remembering is limited and many may not be interested to listen. Though I might be sharing facts and knowledge. But if we create an opportunity to experience and interact with people with disability, it etches your brain with few memories that you can take away with some learnings which might eventually come with it. It’s a small window into the life of people with disability to know they are ordinary people just like you and me who are having a different set of abilities. They too have similar emotional needs and just need dignity and want to live a life similar to ours.Corporate volunteering
When a corporate professional experience, how people with disability can function with modifications and accommodations, it can open their mind and make them creative to make the work place more inclusive. We plan creative events and activities for the corporate employees where they can spend time with the people with different abilities, create something together, teach them any skill, give outdoor exposure and many more. They also participate in knowledge sharing sessions with teachers, organisation staff to understand technical skills they require, soft skill training, team building exercises etc.School Buddy program
The young children are the future of our society and it is important to imbibe the values like empathy, helpfulness, cooperation in them through different creative exposures and experiences. These young children have inquisitive mind where they want to know the cause and understand the reason. When they meet the same age group children with different abilities, understand the cause and their challenges and how unique they are, they welcome them more in their life. The exposure helps them to know what disability is and how we can be empathetic to the people around us, how not to judge anyone by their appearance and be a proactive and responsible individual to bring more inclusion for those people with different challenges in the community. We conduct School buddy program with different mainstream schools and it is one of the successful events of ours.Individual philanthropists

My experience with Akshadhaa Foundation has been an absolute pleasure. Since this is my first time volunteering, I was nervous as I didn't have a lot of experience. But they made me feel so welcome that I forgot I was new here. My supervisor Shubhajit Sir has provided valuable guidance to me that I will always cherish. I am very grateful for this opportunity to work with them and help their mission!
