Being inclusive not only makes us creative, it challenges the ordinary, it makes one think beyond the horizon.
We being an NGO working for people with disability, we knew we had to strive to bring inclusion and create a platform where the community could mingle and come close to people with disability. With this thought we at Akshadhaa Foundation coined this “Inclusive Carnival’.
As the name conveys it is a Gala event with many components where we are bringing a fun element, a non-threatening ambience to get close to people with disability, it is also an attempt to showcase the ability of people with Autism and Intellectual Disability. It is a subtle medium to educate the community and to plant a seed a thought of inclusion and invoke empathy, compassion in people’s mind.
This event sensitizes our community to look at them with a different perspective, making us less judgmental and more sensitive. We can bring a shift in our mindset to create more opportunities for people with disability.
Every ‘Carnival’ opportunity generates exposure for our trainees with autism and ID and also creates scope to earn stipend.
These opportunities have a ripple effect on their families, it breaks the myth that “people with disability are a burden on the family” this gives hope and aspiration to family members to see their kids standing shoulder to shoulder to qualified people in the corporate community and earn a stipend.
We have sensitised more than 5000 lives in the corporate houses and educational institutes and we look forward to do more in the days to come. We value each and every opportunity, we want to leave some thought provoking memories that will leave everyone thinking and to evolve as a sensitive and an inclusive person.
We are honoured and appreciative to our corporate houses and educational institutes for their association, support and encouragement for enabling us to conduct the Inclusion carnival at their premises.
